Celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th birthday on the water with the Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association’s festive Boat Parade, showcasing a vibrant display of decorated boats in a patriotic procession across the lake. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Liebs Island and travel down the lake to the Waterfront, where final judging will take place. Whether you’re watching from a dock, the shoreline, or your favorite spot by the water, this is your cue to keep your eyes on the lake. With the country marking its 250th anniversary, this year’s patriotic theme is bigger than ever, giving boat owners every reason to go all in. Think flags, streamers, sparkle, stars, stripes, and any festive setup that gives your boat a true 4th of July moment.

Of course, there are prizes on the line, too:
  • Most Patriotic: $200
    • Proudly sponsored by the Buckeye Lake Chamber of Commerce
  • Most Creative: $200
    • Sponsored by the Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association
  • People’s Choice: $200
    • Sponsored by Marnita Swickard & Michelle Blizzard, eMerge Real Estate
    • For People’s Choice, spectators can text their favorite boat number to 740-224-4948.

What is the Independence Day Boat Parade?

What started as a small lakeside gathering has grown into one of Buckeye Lake’s most cherished Independence Day traditions. The annual 4th of July Boat Parade is a celebration of freedom, creativity, and community that brings together generations of lake lovers.

Families decorate their boats, friends gather on docks, and the lake becomes a stage for unforgettable sights and sounds. From hand-painted signs to full-deck performances, each boat tells a story, creating moments that last long after the holiday ends.

It’s a bold, buoyant, and joy-filled tradition that captures the spirit of Buckeye Lake like no other!
